The success of Suffolk Meals on Wheels centers around an extraordinary core of volunteers who contribute their time, compassion and concern for our recipients. Many of our volunteers make a commitment to deliver meals once a month. Volunteers must be available on a weekday or weekdays between the hours of 11:00am and 1:30pm, have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of automobile insurance. Training is provided and every effort is made to accommodate each volunteer’s schedule. Routes range in time from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the day and route scheduled. Available routes include Downtown Suffolk, Chuckatuck, Nansemond, Holland, Whaleyville, Smithfield, Isle of Wight, and Windsor regions. Substitute drivers are also needed for those who are on vacation and occasional vacancies.
Groups, military, students, and corporate volunteers are welcome!
Please consider joining our team as we make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. We promise smiles, thank-yous, and tremendous satisfaction in knowing that you are providing a valuable service to those in need!
*Court mandated community service hours are only available to volunteers who are not charged with a barrier crime and need ten hours of community service or less. No exceptions apply.*
